On Saturday, I had my book launch party to celebrate the release of Riftmaker, but especially No Rest for the Wicked, which officially comes out Mar 28. A day or so before the event, my Mother-in-law asked me what it was going to be like because it would be her first time at this kind of thing. “Mine too!” I replied. My family here in Ann Arbor were all so amazing and supportive (not to mention tolerant of the mess!) during my days of preparation.
The evening started out with taking over the back room of the Crazy Wisdom Bookstore and Tea Room. I read an excerpt from each novel, as well as me and some of the other Queen of Clocks and Other Steampunk Tales authors each reading a snippet from that collection.
And last but certainly not least, we headed around the corner to the Arbor Brewing Company where we enjoyed good food, great company, and a trivia game.
I’m looking forward to my next event, which is Mar 29-31 in Cincinnati. I’ll be on writing and publishing panels, moderating the Intro to Steampunk discussions, and giving a talk on Egyptomania during the weekend, as well as selling my books, pins, and mugs. It’s a lot to pack in to just a few short weeks, but you know what they say. There’s No Rest for the Wicked 😉
