The muscles of Vi’s jaw worked as she turned the words over in her mind. Bonnie had a point—several in fact—and there was so much at stake. Eventually, she asked with a smirk, “What do you think are the chances I could get her to help me without actually apologizing? Because I can’t be certain, but it’s possible my heart would give out rather than tell her I was sorry.”
Her friend smiled back, all of the anger of the previous moments washed away. “If anyone could manage to die of stubbornness, I’m sure it would be you.”
